This past summer, Michael Davis, a double major in Math & Computer Science and Art History & Archaeology, participated in an eight-week archaeological field school in Ancient Corinth, Greece. Immersed in the rich cultural heritage of the site, Michael developed practical skills that will support his future research and fieldwork, including digital site surveying, stratigraphic unit analysis, and drone photography/photogrammetry.
Generous support from the Penelope Biggs Travel Award made this opportunity possible, allowing Michael to engage deeply with the site and its history. Reflecting on the experience, he describes it as one of the most fulfilling of his academic career: “This program was both a privilege and a pivotal step in shaping my path in archaeology,” he says, highlighting how hands-on engagement with ancient sites has strengthened his passion for the field.
