WashU Classics PhD Candidate Jake Pawlush Awarded Suzanne Mizera and James Risch Fund for Student Research

Jake Pawlush

Washington University in St. Louis Classics PhD candidate Jake Pawlush has been awarded the Suzanne Mizera and James Risch Fund for Student Research and Resources in Classics in support of his membership in the American Numismatic Society (ANS).

This award will provide Pawlush access to ANS resources, including its renowned numismatic collections, scholarly publications, and research community. His work in numismatics—analyzing ancient coins as historical artifacts—contributes to broader studies of economic, political, and cultural history in the ancient Mediterranean.

The Mizera-Risch Fund, established to support student research in Classics at WashU, continues to foster academic excellence by providing access to specialized resources. Pawlush’s work with ANS will enhance both his dissertation research and the department’s engagement with material culture studies.
