Two department members speak at international conference on ancient music

PhD student Marleigh Anderson and Lecturer Rebecca Sears both spoke this week at the annual meeting of MOISA, the International Society for the Study of Greek and Roman Music and its Cultural Heritage. The meeting was held in Strasbourg, France (with some virtual participants), and was streamed live on YouTube and archived here.

Marleigh Anderson’s talk was titled “Ritual Dance in the Eleusinian Afterlife (Aristophanes Frogs 312-459).”

Rebecca Sears’ talk was titled “What Can Poetry Tell us about Musical Practice in Rome? Ovid’s Representation of the Sound of Mystery Cult Music.”

Congratulations to our musical scholars!
