Lance Jenott promoted to Senior Lecturer

The Department of Classics and Program in Religious Studies are thrilled to announce that the Dean of Arts & Sciences has approved the promotion of Lance Jenott to Senior Lecturer, effective July 1st, 2022.

The promotion recognizes the many transformative contributions Dr. Jenott has made to the teaching and intellectual life of our units – and others, such as IPH. Over the last five years he has taught hundreds of students in his popular courses on ancient magic, early Christian culture and controversies, scriptural traditions, and ancient Greek language and texts. He has introduced Coptic language to our course offerings in Classics, shared his knowledge of paleography and papyrology with our graduate students, spearheaded the annual Weltin Lecture in Early Christianity, led an extracurricular New Testament reading group, and mentored many students through research projects, including honors theses. We are grateful to see Professor Jenott’s work rewarded and look forward to more years with him. Euge!
