The WashU Department of Classics was saddened to learn of the death of Raffaella Cribiore, 2021 Biggs Family Resident in Classics. Classics faculty and students remember fondly Professor Cribiore’s good-natured flexibility as she adapted to the residency’s Zoom format enforced by Covid-19, and her exciting work on education in Late Antiquity. Professor Cribriore was also a valued member of the excavation team at Dakhla Oasis in Egypt, led by Roger Bagnall and Nicola Aravecchia.
Honorary Professor and 2022 Biggs Resident Roger Bagnall prepared an obituary in memory of Professor Cribriore on the Society for Classical Studies website.
