Davis is an MA student working on Roman historiography in the John and Penelope Biggs Department of Classics. In his thesis research, Davis examines how the Roman historians characterize Rome’s enemies, paying special attention to the rhetorical and ethical significance of the occasional praise they offer these foes. This research is situated in the context of his broader interests in rhetoric, ethics, hermeneutics, and friendship.
Davis holds a B.A. in History from the University of North Texas, and he spent a year teaching high school Latin after graduating. In his free time, he practices jazz and classical guitar, a lifelong hobby of his.
