Davis is an MA student working on Roman historiography in the John and Penelope Biggs Department of Classics. In his thesis research, Davis examines the language of trickery and deception in the text of Livy in order to shed light on the historian's moral evaluation of underhanded tactics, especially those employed by Romans. This research is situated in the context of his broader interests in ethics, rhetoric, and intellectual history.
Davis holds a B.A. in History from the University of North Texas, and he spent a year teaching high school Latin after graduating. When he has a free moment, he likes to practice jazz and classical guitar, a lifelong hobby of his.
