Classical Journal has published a special issue (Volume 119, Number 4, April/May 2024) entitled, Plautus in the Heartland and Beyond: Washington University in St. Louis’ 1884 Rudens and its Context,” edited by Zoe Stamatopoulou, Tim Moore, and Georgia Irby. The issue examines a remarkable performance of Plautus’ Rudens by a group of women students in Washington University’s early days and builds on a reperformance of the play and a symposium on the 1885 event held by the Washington University Department of Classics in 2021. Among other essays, the issue includes an introduction by Stamatopoulou and Moore and essays by Moore and by Marleigh Anderson (PhD, Classics, Washington University, 2023) and Henry Schott (PhD candidate in Classics, Washington University).
