Lecturer of Classics Justin Meyer encourages anyone interested to join The German Academic Literature Reading Group, a sight-reading group for graduate students and researchers for practicing and acquiring the skills needed for reading German-language scholarship. Each month a different participant will bring an article or book that the group will read together. We emphasize learning technical vocabulary and grammatical constructions that are defining features of academic German. Justin Meyer’s job as organizer and facilitator is to be available to clarify which phrases, words, or constructions you will encounter in German scholarship and help in translating difficult passages.
The group has traditionally met for 1.5 hours on Friday afternoons but is flexible and will meet when the schedules of the participants and Justin allow. If you are interested in taking part, email Justin Meyer at jpmeyer@wustl.edu.
