The Department of Classics notes with sadness the passing of Chancellor Emeritus William H. Danforth. Chancellor Danforth's support for Classics, and his warm friendship with our friends the Biggs family, were in evidence in his faithful participation in the annual Biggs Residency, right up through its most recent live iteration in 2019. His enthusiasm for our work, sunny disposition, and lively conversation will be very much missed.
Together with the Biggs family, we will affectionately remember our years in the company of Chancellor Danforth and his wife Elizabeth.
