An overview of the literature of the Roman Republic, with emphasis on texts on the graduate reading lists. We will read selections from major authors, paying particular attention to individual style, intertextuality, the development of genres, and the relationship between Roman literature and Roman society. PREREQS: GRADUATE STANDING IN CLASSICS OR PERMISSION OF INSTRUCTOR.
