Junior Guowei Jia wins Diversity Award from national Classics organization

Junior Classics major Guowei Jia has been selected as this year’s undergraduate recipient of the Rudolph Masciantonio Diversity Award from the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS). The award honors a devoted Classics teacher, Foreign Language Director for the Philadelphia School District, and philanthropist who died in 2016. CAMWS calls Dr. Masciantonio a “champion of how effective, imaginative, and humane teaching makes Latin, Greek, and classics of value to all students, regardless of personal, family or societal challenges which they confronted.”

We are grateful to CAMWS and very proud of Guowei, who will formally receive the award at this spring’s CAMWS Annual Meeting in Winston-Salem, NC.
