On November 18th Bayla Kamens, a PhD student in the John and Penelope Bigg Department of Classics, delivered a guest lecture entitled "Textiles in Homer" to the Classical Mythology class at their alma mater, Kenyon College. This lecture was the (remote) introduction to an upcoming hands-on workshop. In the lecture Kamens spoke about the interaction between text and textile through an examination of three case studies in theIliad andOdyssey. In doing so, they demonstrated the basics of ancient Greek weaving and spinning.
