Sophomore Classics major wins Phi Beta Kappa Book Award

The department has learned that Madison Ihrig, Classics major in the class of 2020, is one of this year's recipients of the Burton M. Wheeler Book Award of the WU chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. The notification reads: "In honor of Burt Wheeler, a beloved professor of English and religious studies and former dean, our chapter gives this award to students in their third semester (or its equivalent) in the College of Arts & Sciences. We chose you, in other words, out of the entire Class of 2020 after a detailed review of your academic record told a compelling story of intellectual depth, a hunger for exploration, and superior academic performance." These words describe Madison, a student of both ancient languages and a double major in Mathematics, very well!
