The Washington University Department of Classics joins with lovers of ancient Greek and Roman literature around the world in celebrating the life of W. Ralph Johnson of the University of Chicago, who passed away on April 13, 2024. Professor Johnson, the author of several paradigm-changing books on Roman authors and on the history of lyric, was the department’s 2004 Biggs Family Resident in Classics.
